I've wanted to make a 10" blade camp knive/chopper for awhile. Finally made one up about a month ago. It's 15" overall with a 10" blade, 1/4" thick by 2" wide A2 steel.

I'm looking for a good source for jigged and worm grooved bone scales. I need 4 1/8" to 5" long and a minimum of 1 1/8" wide. Knifekits.com is one place I found. Anybody know of other sources I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

I made this video to show how I field sharpen my knives. It can also be applied to other knives. It mainly focoses on the convex edge and zero scandi edge.

David, I guess I could still make knives without it if I had to. :D But it does make it alot easier. It does take some getting use to. It's all in the feel.

I can't make knives without it. I flat grind 75% of the grind and use the rotary for the final 25% finish of the grind which gives the blade a slight convex contour.

I use GG exclusively for full tang knives. It is strong as hell and can take a beating. I don't do hidden tang anymore but when I did I used JB Weld.

I've been thinking of trying the Sanvik steel also. You might want to take a look at 440C. I've found edge holding to be right there with CPM 154.

The wharncliffe blade on a fixed blade that is. You see them alot on folders but not as much on fixed blades. I'm sure there are fixed blades out there, it just seems they aren't talked about much. I recently made one as a work knife and I love it.
