    First flipper

This is pocket knife #5 and the first flipper. Titanium scales, stainless liner and S35VN for the blade. Kind of homely looking, but it works.

What's going on in your shop?

Thanks guys. I was doing some heat treating yesterday and it looks like I got a little air in there. Same packet with two blades. Hopefully the one isn't damaged.

    Nitro V

Thanks for the replys gentlemen. I queried Chuck at Alpha Knife Supply and he basically said it was very similar to 14C28N and that AEB-L was a better option.

    Nitro V

Has anyone used this steel at a high hardness and care to comment on what it's like? Heat treat info would also be appreciated.

What's going on in your shop?

I'm trying a titanium liner lock flipper and just got the bearings in it. It feels pretty smooth, which is a good sign. Still a long way to go.

I made a short video of the second liner lock I've made.

What's going on in your shop?

My titanium and stainless for liners showed up. Going to try a thin folder. I heat treated 4 large drop point hunters yesterday and I ground one that I had previously heat treated today. I would have liked to have done more, but it's back to work tomorrow.

I don't remember if I posted pics of this one before. If I did, it was using a different photo hosting site that I don't use any more. A large knife in S35VN.

Thanks. I finished it up and got it together. I'm pleased with the results.

What's going on in your shop?

I ground the blade for liner lock #2 today. 1200 grit belt finish. I ordered some supplies from USA Knifemaker and am going to try making a flipper. Hopefully it turns out well.

Nice folder. I'm going to try a flipper later on this year.

What's going on in your shop?

The gimping is on the spine for traction with your thumb. I also think you are referring to the swedge.

What's going on in your shop?

Thanks. I used a checkering file. 20 lines per inch if I remember right.

What's going on in your shop?

Thanks. It's in the tumbler now. I like the finish, but it's a finger print magnet and it's a working knife so it might as well get stone washed.
