    Thanks guys. The American Tanto is what I was referring to. In my mind the flat first seemed to make sense but thought I would ask instead of ruining a piece of metal.

    I have been thinking about making a tanto blade but unsure on the grind process as whether or not to grind the tip first then the flat or vice-versa. Would appreciate any info.

    Learning all the time It was a harbor freight buffer and their green compound. it removed the sanding scratches but left scratches of it's own. Thanks for the input guys.

    It's just under 1/4". It was a lawn mower blade.

    I love Kirinite. A great look and is extremely easy to shape and polish.

    Any ideas on the best type of buffing wheels to use. I got an inexpensive 6" buffer for christmas and the wheels seem to fly apart extremely fast. I like mirror finished blades but getting the final micro-scratches seems darn near impossible.
