Finished pic Mother’s Day/Anniversary Present for Wife

Kevin Zito

KNIFE MAKER
So this is an unfinished knife for my wife. Handle is stabilized maple with desert ironwood accent and white spacer material. The blade is mirror-polished Nitro V with rope file work. The scale in the pic is 1.6 in wide for size reference. All I have left is epoxy and final sanding of handle. Thanks for looking. Critique, please.

Edit: I am deciding wether or not to leave the scale that’s down in the file work. What do y’all think? I also have to clean up the underneath side of the handle lol.

Very nice Kevin. That’s a fine gift!
Thanks OP! I just finished buffing both sides and put the epoxy. I ended up cleaning out the filework... I think it looks better. My wife has been on my case about selling (not giving). So this one is hers and I told her she could sell it if she wants to. She laughed in my face. She said not a chance lol.

Thanks, folks! I'm putting the finishing touches on this one now. Gonna try to rig up something to take a better pic.

Put the mark too low, and I’m actually gonna sand the handle to a much higher grit. She may not be that pretty but LAWD talk about sharp. It’s probab a little too sharp. Thanks for looking.

That is one fine looking knife your best so far I would say.
Wow! Thanks, Rick!!! I’ve been really trying to push myself to make something that is pretty nice and still has decent fit and finish. It’s a funny thing. The bells and whistles are easy to do. However, each bell and whistle adds a tremendous amount of work when it comes to finishing. Good thing I love doin this lol.

Looks really good. I like what you are doing with the handle materials.
Thanks, Gene! I don’t think I’ll be cutting and piecing together the wood I got from you yesterday lol. I have never seen wood like that in my life. I might just go put it in my safety deposit box. A pic will NEVER do this wood justice. The walnut is 3D like a hologram. 240C810C-C47D-4CD8-A2A9-24AF98035458.jpeg
