My latest 2019 project

Looks really good. Are you showing off the peened front of bolster, OR perhaps that GREAT fit of bolster to ricasso? Good job

Heysnow: Thanks for commenting on the peening. I have always liked that surface treatment.

The Scandi Grind is done with slack belt correct? I've been so focused on flat and hollow grinds trying to get the grind nice sharp and even. I've never done one. Very nice knife.

Thanks izafireman andGlide07. No slack belt. All my work done on a Wilmont LB1000 with a DD adjustable tool rest against a flat platen.

Is your screen name reflective of having been a 2nd class gunnersmate. If so, what's the other G for? Guided missile, perhaps? Regardless, from one vet to another, Thanks for serving. Even if it was on a surface craft.

During the Vietnam war I was a FTG2, (think weapons control) 1964-68. While on board the USS Chicago CG11, I advanced from E2 to E5 in the gun division 5"/38. In 1978 I was called back (voluntary reserve) to be an armorer hence the GMG2 rating. At that time the G stood for guns. M stood for missile. BTW I made the first two Vietnam cruises on the Chicago and we were in the task force when the USS pueblo was taken by the North Koreans. My avatar honors the Skyraider AD1 aircraft and pilots.

Thanks for the reply. While you were riding the waves on Chicago , I was running defense for you about 150 feet below. I was STS E5 aboard USS Segundo. SS 351.
