THAT is a sharp knife.

Ouch! Wear long leg jeans, the denim gives some protection.

I did something equally dumb last yr - hand sanding on a blade, and didn't have the tip behind the wood, and allowed my left forearm to hit the tip - bad "stab" wound. I actually had to go to "doc in box" to get a few stitches. Doc asked me if that was a "stab wound", nope I says, it's a laceration. Good, he says - A stab wound has to be reported to police. Since it was a laceration no more paperwork.

I haven't worn shorts in the shop...yet. I'm tempted with the heat.
At least it's a nice clean cut...

I wear shorts but always have an apron on. Yes, I look ridiculous.
I wear the apron when I forge weld, it does look goofy but its better than molten flux on your leg. In this case I was sitting at my bench “safe”. At least I did not try to catch the knife.

I hear ya about shorts in the shop! Lots of good points on both sides! I saw a video of a guy wearing shorts and flip flops forging!! Now thats taking it a bit to far!!

I once welded while wearing Crocs. After I caught my sock on fire (Literally) I decided that was not a good idea any longer. I have three standing rules in my shop (my son can quote them). 1). Socks and real shoes required at all times. 2). Don't touch nothing. 3). No kilts allowed.
