Shop Music Thread- what are you listening to today?

I liked his early stuff a little better when he was playing with Don Julin.
Yeah...some of those Pick-A-Thon recordings with Don julian are amazing!

The song below is what hooked me on Billy Strings...when I got out of the hospital early this year I "discovered" him....lol.

I told my wife after listening to it for about the 10th time..."Who knew Jazz/fusion and Bluegrass had a love child" lol.

I also like anything from Sam Bush....Chris Thile is amazing too...but sometimes I wanna say "Stop talking and PLAY"...lol (I you tube everything)

Meqedem - check out psalm 23

Kirk Whalum "The Gospel According to Jazz" - Running away

For audio books we're listening to Clive Staple Lewis' "Mere Christianity." and some of G.A. Hently's work. I strongly recommend Mere Christianity. It covers a lot of ground on basic Christian living and for me is easier to listen to than to read. A real answer to prayer for me needing wisdom (James 1:5). The narrator is hard to follow on G.A. Henlty's work but informative on history.

CS Lewis was an amazing thinker and author. The Screwtape Letters, Mere Christianity... Consider how many children around the world in secular homes have been exposed to the story of Good vs Evil and the need for a Savior through his Chronicles of Narnia series. His science fiction is also very good.

I'm liking Mere Christianity. CS Lewis is the pastor I need right now. Even though it's not strong preaching its strong teaching. The audiobook is "C.S. Lewis at War." It has a intro drama that introduces CS Lewis the man. Never realized what He had been through. One thing in particular was the loss of respect from colleagues for producing the content of Mere Christianity for "common" people on the radio. It's another example for me that anything done for Christ takes sacrifice.

I'm all over the map in the kind of music I like. I never found much I liked for ahwile until a friend from Portland showed me Kirk Whalum. MEQEDEM is new and unique and has a good sound. It's like giving king David an electric harp.

This album helped me through a difficult time....as does anything Kieth Green.... ;)

Any one of these gals has the pipes to front a band. Finding three voices like this in one band?....amazing.

There should be three songs here...each gal doing the lead vocals on each song. They write their own stuff...seriously good musicians. Enjoy

Ward Thomas....country girls from England...they're twins. This is filmed at the farm they grew up on. They still live there.
They write their own stuff...real good songwriters. They do covers...but mostly originals. Their cover of Fleetwood macs Lanslide is real good.

Sturgill Simpson and some Tyler Childers all day yesterday! And maybe again today!

Sturgill has a new bluegrass album out "Cuttin Grass" you should give it a spin if you like bluegrass!

Sturgill just released volume 2 cuttin grass too. They're pretty decent. Sturgill is a pretty talented guitar player. Wish he did a little more solo stuff on the cuttin grass albums.

I liked the stuff he did with John Prine.

My music span is quite wide. My top rock band is Van Halen. But I listen to just about everything. I can have Van Halen and Cheap Trick blasting one minute, then turn around on a dime and throw in some Stringbean, Grandpa Jones or Johnny Cash. Used to kinda surprise my friends sometimes. I could have "I Want You To Want Me" up loud and then it's followed by "Ol' Rattler." ;)

A lot of us here swing the rope pretty wide too...Lol!

If you guys want to hear a cover band that is just as solid as they come go to youtube and search “Foxes and Fossils”. Musically they are as solid as people get and their vocal harmony is out of this world. They cover a lot of really great songs.
Just one example:
