Hey guys, just joined the forumn and this is my 1st post so wanted to say hello to everyone! I need a knife but I am so overwhelemed; soooo many brands and types! Wanted to know what you guys would suggest for a new knife...budget knife? My budget is realllly tight right now and sort of embarassed to even say but if possible around $25. I do want a spring assisted but not sure if around $25 is too cheap for a quality assisted knife. Follow up question, does anyone know anything about Steinbrucke? I found one lying in the garage no idea where or when I got it but it does have decent steel (Sandvik) and build quality. I dont think they are even remotely close to being as good/quality as Kershaw and those brands but Im hoping it is atleast better than those crappy Tacforce/Mtech ebay knives. Anyways thanks and cant wait to officially begin this new hobby!

Welcome!

Kershaw has a pretty decent number of assisted openers in the $25 or less range. Schrade has a few as well.

Welcome. My advise is to save up a little extra money. Decent knives can be had for less than $100 dollars.

Thanks! I think the plan is Im going to get 1 or 2 cheapies and then save up for 1 just like you said. Ive noticed that you can get a great knife sub $100.

PM me your address and I'll mail you a brand-new Kershaw Leek for the cost of shipping. I got a closeout deal, and I can spare one...

Im 100% planning to get a Kershaw. How do you feel about Rough Ryder compared to Schrade?
Good question... they both make decent knives for the money, though I feel like the last couple of RRs I bought had a slightly better fit and finish than the last Schrade I bought. Not that it was bad per say. I'd say you wouldn't go wrong with either, for the money anyway.

Ive seen more love for RR than Schrade during some knife research so I figured to go with RR. Its super overwhelming when youre new bc there are so many brands and tiers lol as Im sure everyone has experienced!. Theres some really nice RR and Schrade on ebay for very cheap. I found a RR Bullfrog I really like for $15. I think Im going to get that then save up for a $50-$75 tier knife and slowly work my way up. Budget is very tight currently so unfort have to buy accordingly but nonetheless I absolutely starting to fall in love with knives. Never knew the beauty behind them. I cant even imagine how pretty some of those $200+ blades are!
