any good design ideas for push knives?

We have a knife in the kitchen my wife loves and a friend of ours saw it and commented she would like one similar to it. Her and her husband have become friends of ours and a great support for us out here so I'd like to make it for them for nothing. But I've been kind of stuck on a design and...

What's going on in your shop?

I had never heard of a head knife. I searched it up and I got the search results "quarter" knife and "round" knife...similar to an ulu, but with a straight handle, and prodominately used for push cutting. It gives me some new ideas for a push cutting knife profile I've been stuck on.

2022 Knife in the Hat, Well it's getting to be that time of year

Beautiful blade! Not sure if it's just the lighting, but I like the more subtle contrast in the hamon line.

Documenting Heat Treatment With Paragon's Bartlett Sentinel Controller

That sound really good. I know what you mean about unknown temps. I often wonder if I should have started with an electric oven as a beginner. After reading on the forums it does not seem as expensive as I originally thought to run one. I would have to go 120v without getting in an...

    Arctic Air Mass

Yeah, i get that a lot, too. That’s why i was worried about my vfd and my electric motors at first. I'm not too worried about the controller anymore, its lasted a few interior winters. But when we warm up (from bitter cold to around 0) i do run my motors hoping that will clear any condensation...

I appreciate you showing how you do metal bolsters. I want to use stone and lately the wheels have been turning on how I’m going to build and install it between bolsters. But I need to learn how to make pins disappear first. Thanks for the detailed steps.

What's going on in your shop?

I don’t remember. I don’t live near stores so i snagged it off something and saved it for later. It’s a dee ring and you can get them anywhere. I do have a Tandy catalog that has lots of different sizes and either copper, nickel plate i believe and brass- and some antiqued, which are nicer imo.

    Guard for full tang knife

Is it a really clean solder joint?...or maybe the silver line on the guard is a reflection off the blade.

    Forging in a Garage

For some reason i can’t edit my posts. As an afterthought you can also deflect the heat somehow from it being concentrated on one part of the ceiling with either a peice of metal or kaowool or both. Those are probably better choices than only sheetrock. And if its just metal keep it from being...

I don’t think the height is a problem. At least not right away. You’d have time to run it and watch it for awhile.

    DeMo 2022 Kith

You snuck that one in! Nice animal. I like the tenderloins too. I hide them from my wife so they don’t end up either in the grinder or as jerky. I agree with steve about your hunting and avatar pictures. I thought that was a guy you ran into out hunting. Lol. Took me a minute. I’m following...

I agree on the micarta. Almost got some the other day, but not spending any more money on handle material for a while.

I never thought about how similar those two blade types are. Both beautiful. I'm sure the groom was extremely pleased. OP, nice finish.
