    Condensation on Milling Machine

I bought a mini milling machine from a guy on Craigslist a few days ago. I'm trying to learn how to use it, so far it has been very interesting and helpful in the shop. However, it has picked up some discoloration/rust on the column from condensation (I wiped it down with WD-40). I work out of...

    Handles coming apart

Those aren't the best epoxies you could be using, but I'd think it would have more to do with glue up preparation. How do you prepare your tang/scales for glue up?

    Future of Knifecraft

Thanks for all the responses. Personally, I don't get why people like the high price production knives, especially when you can get an equal or greater quality handmade for a similar price. Then again, people aren't always interested in spending their money wisely.

    Future of Knifecraft

What are thoughts on the future of knifemaking, handmade, mid-tech, and production? Knives themselves are necessary tools, but whether or not people will deem quality/beauty worth paying for and whether the market will be glutted or open is the question. Recent threads on what is at least...

Here is what I've finished up in the last few weeks: a Classic Hunter in live etched D2, brass, and Cocobolo, a Truncated Nessmuk in D2, and my first lockback folder made from scratch.

    D2 Air quench temp?

I wouldn't hang it above your forge, if your forge is still hot. Just cool air, or Aluminum plates. Some people use a fan.

    Hand filing swedges

At least when using a grinder, I will grind swedges after the main bevels are finished and taken to final finish. This keeps the swedges crisp. Your grinds there look really good, maybe try finishing your main bevels first?

Now that Christmas is over, I can post this one! My brother ordered a Nessmuk with an elk handle. Live etched D2, Elk, and hammered copper.

Whether to make a knife for a Marine

The knife is in the customers (who will be giving it to her son) hands. Here are some final pics (just another dark, rainy NW day...). Thanks everyone for the advice, I appreciate it.

    Two more puukkos

Beautiful work. I'm probably showing my ignorance here, but I don't think I've ever seen a sheath like that. Very interesting.

I wanted to make a kephart and this is what I came up with. I made two, and the other didn't turn out as well. I tried a couple new things with it, including a convex grind and a bulge in the handle at the front, as I've seen the originals had. AEB-L and Bubinga.

And a carving in AEB-L and some pretty cool G-10. First time using G-10 and I like working with it. It grinds so smooth and takes a nice polish. The layers are really cool.

    New kitchen knives!

Taz, you should think about making your own photo gallery on here. The progression over time is cool, as well as having all your knives in one place.

    Fascinating Damascus Knife

That is an amazing looking real damascus knife! It even has the hammer marks left in it from the hand forging process! For only $120 I can't believe you haven't sold out already. What does "strong bearing capacity" mean?
