What's going on in your shop?

Very nice! What is the middle handle material, some sort of stone laminate?

Pointing out flaws in your work

That is smart to not let an imperfect logo'd knife out the door, and obviously you are under no obligation to your friend to do this, but if you wanted to you could grind out the logo? Or maybe I'm missing something here.

Pointing out flaws in your work

I totally understand, and have many knives that aren't "sellers" because they were weeded out due to differing reasons. My main point was for knives that you are happy with, good knives with no detrimental flaws. For instance, this knife who doesn't have much of a finger stop, but is otherwise a...

Pointing out flaws in your work

I like being honest about my work, but sometimes feel like I harp on what I did wrong more than what I did right, even if it is a very nice knife. What do you point out about a knife you are selling? Scratches, gaps in fitups, thick grinds? Obviously, these things are undesirable, and I won't...

Lanny's Clip in OD micarta and hollow ground AEB-L. It was an overcast, very light sprinkly day, so I was able to do pictures without a lightbox. I prefer overcast days over 30min to sunset, it's like a natural lightbox.

    Etching machine sparks

So when you accidentally touch the etching pad to the other live clip and it sparks, do you needto replace a fuse or anything? I don't know anything about electronics, but I figured the sparks couldn't be good for the machine and whether I need to reset something?

And a kitchen knife. 8in OAL. Very thin. AEB-L handrubbed to 600, pernambuco wood, rounded octagonal shaped handle. I've taken the bear out of these last few makers marks. Trying to decide whether to leave it or not. Which do you think looks better?

This is a knife I finished today for my brother. He thinks it looks like a canoe closed, I agree with him. Nat. Micarta and machine finished AEB-L. I think I'll really like AEB-L, especially once I run it just a teeny bit harder for these small guys. 6in. OAL.These close up pictures show all the...

This is a slipjoint I just finished which I really like. It's a bit heavy because of the brass handles, but I like it. AEB-L, handrubbed. I was originally going to leave the brass satin stroked vertically, but decided that since brass scratches so easily, I would throw it in the tumbler. I...

    Faster knife sanding?

No cheating. Sorry! :) Are you using quality sandpaper with a hard backer? That makes a ton of difference.

    What about stonewash finish

You don't need anything fancy. I use regular gravel in a rock tumbler I already have and it turns out well. Although I guess if you were looking for consistency you might try tumbling media.

These are all beautiful. Do you draw up the patterns yourself or do you get them from somewhere?

2 Van Elkins bone handle knives

GLWS, very nice knives! If you have a knife worth more than 1k, however, I would personally send it to somewhere like Arizona Custom Knives where they can take professional photos and have a large market base.
