It feels very good in the hand and well balanced. I've made several more but haven't posted as I've been to busy. I'd post more pics but resizing them isn't my thing.

Kind of a home made unit. I used a dc power supply set to 10 amps and 18 volts. I had a stencil made and used vinegar and salt solution.

I also thought about a stamp. But cost turned me away, also stamping without a press isn't my idea of getting quality.

I've been waiting for a stencil so I can etch my blades. They came today and here are my first 2 attempts. The one on the right is my 2nd try and it turned out a lot better. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the same knife or a different one on my next stencil. This was done on a test blade.

Well I finally got it done. What do you think?

Wouldn't you know grandkids changed the plans. The wife wasn't even off the phone and I was setting up. Finished my first heat treat and the blade has been in the tempering oven for 15 minutes now. Heat treat went well & the blade is hard. It was cool watching the steel turn colors and go...

I've at about a dime's thickness maybe just a little thinner. Thanks guys. Hoping to do it tomorrow. Was planning on today but the grand kids threw that plan out.

Another question, how close to sharp should I go before heat treat?

Yesterday I ran across an old pizza stone I haven't used in a few years. I cut it to fit inside the toaster oven. This should help keep a more even temperature.

Well I voided all warranties today on the toaster oven. Well not that it had any because it was a used one that I bought. My metal is 3/16 and my oak is 1/4. I plan on holes to lighten (before heat treat) and also give the epoxy surface area. I could get by with just the oak but wanted to gain just a little thickness for finishing.
