Butcher knife design critique and suggestions

I think Calvin's design would work great for processing the meat. All your work will be done on a cutting board slicing backstrap, roast and steaks. The curved, narrow blade will work well. I also agree with his steel choice. D2 tool steel is an amazing steel if done correctly. It gets...

    Zirconium

I have used it a few times myself. It's like titanium to me. Like Ed mentioned, maybe a little tougher. I find that it heats easily with a propane torch. It seems to get that deep black color better for me if I quench it in Parks 50 instead of water. I heat it pretty to a bright red. You...

    Probably confused for no reason....

Annealing is the softening of the metal to allow us to work it. Like grinding and drilling. Tempering is a part of the heat treating process where we take hardness out of the blade after the quench. It gives us a usable blade. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

    Heat treat oven 115 or 240 v

The 240V version is more efficient. It's very simple. What is efficiency? If the 240V version uses half the amperage it's a no brainer. If the amount of voltage didn't matter we wouldn't use high voltage to feed out electrical grid. Higher voltage is more efficient period. Sent from my...

Got a question on using bronze

I think so. Depends on the customer. Bronze will patina. 416 will not. It won't look the same over time. I personally like patina and wear on a knife Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
