    Bringing out a hamon

You can't get a hamon on 52100.. You can however get a quench line if you edge quench it. You're looking for 1075, 1095 , W2 and W1 for a good hamon. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Wood or Plexiglass for knife patterns

I use lexan myself. It's ok, but I've recently started making hardened blanks with the holes already laid out. It is definitely a time saver and durable Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

    Ziracote for handles

I've used it a few times. It doesn't need to be stabilized. It's related to the Rosewood if I remember correctly. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

I need a tool and might have to make it.

Definitely Uni-bit. Some guys call it a step bit. I use them all the time. Lennox brand is the best. Just don't overheat it. They last a very long time Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

    Caper model

Thanks! I've etched a lot of blades to come up with a system that works well for me. It's all about trial and error. The bolsters aren't carbon fiber. They are mosaic titanium. Basket weave pattern Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

    Help with Scotchbrite Belts

I actually like them. For a nice satin finish on hollows they are hard to beat in my opinion. I don't like them as well for flat ground bevels. They don't seem to work as well and definitely wash out any transitions. I only use them on a flat ground blade if it's a full height grind...

New member of the Flat Earth Society...

Would it be easier and cheaper to just put it on a VFD? Just curious. Nice score buddy Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk
