I made myself a grinding jig by slotting some angle iron and making a clamp out of 1/2" square tubing. Works great.

I've been pricing material, I have a welder and cut off saw.... Just looking at options. I think I'll go the step pulley route.

I actually like the way this one turned out, I am working on the funds for a big boy grinder but am learning the quirks of the Crapsman 2x42 1/8" 1095 High Carbon Steel professionally heat treated to 59RC Blade length 4.5" total knife length 8.75" Primary bevel taken to .010" before sharpening...

I made a simple handled drop point hunter that turned out a little different. I went to force a patina with acid and this strange hamon showed up so I ran with it. The camo micarta scales were a little thin so when I shaped them they didn't quite turn out as planned..anyways it will make...

Thanks Mark. I'm not sure on a handle, I've epoxied micarta to other rasps with good success. I may just leave it for now. These rasps are harder than the hubs of hell to begin with, grinding them is slow going to not heat them up. They hold a great edge though.

I intend on cleaning the shop this morning but got side tracked when I found a pile of farrier rasps I had forgotten about. Ssooo.... I made a rasp hunter. ☺️ I was able to keep the side for jibbing Now I need to get back to work.

Analysis paralysis! I will probably go with 80CrV2 or a tool steel like O1 or D2.

I did some more tinkering, cutting out templates and adjusting. These feel pretty darned good.... Now I'm just waiting for some steal.
