I saw a demo of the Warthog V-Sharp Classic II this year at Bladeshow. I was pretty impressed with it. He sharpened by brother's extremely dull pocket knife very quickly. Might have to order one.

It’s been hot in the shop the last couple of weeks but I finally got this one done. Alabama Damascus with sheep’s horn. Red and white liners with brass pins.

Slipjoints My Way by Don Robinson has been highly recommended by other knifemakers. Sold on Amazon. I need to order one too. :)

The thickness of the tip of that filet knife was between .018-.020. Not any way to hold it without grinding your fingers off.

The plan is to use a magnet and the glass platen without a work rest. I’ve done that in the past.

Yep billyo. That’s the plan. I’m changing methods so it won’t happen again. Lesson learned :)

My work rest extends behind the platen too. Happened on the last couple of inches of the blade because it became unsupported by the rest. Had a glass platen on my old grinder just sitting there. Could have used it and a magnet. Yep. Very stupid mistake.

That's really nice! I've used scrap bits of Damascus to make jewelry and the ladies in the family love them.

Had a really nice filet knife going. I was trying to grind on the work rest with a push stick. The belt grabbed and pulled it between the rest and the belt. I was doing it that way because I hadn't installed a glass platen on my new grinder so I could use a magnet to hold it. Pretty stupid...
