Great info there Tracey - can you explain what a “floating stop pin” is please? I’m only making small numbers and one offs and I don’t have a mill but I have a hunch that the way I do my stop pins are probably what you are referring to.

I’ve been using solid edge From Siemens - it’s free and seems to have a lot of features. Bit of a learning curve but not too bad.

I’ve never had a problem with 1/2 inch blades once I bought good quality ones. Before that blades jumping off were normal - now it is very rare indeed. Locally in Australia I get my bimetal blades from McDiven saws - they may well ship to NZ and are probably worth a call?

My blades are back from heat treatment and I found some time yesterday to work on my folder. I have three to complete but am working on just one now through to the end and hope the mistakes I make on this one will result in the others being better! Liners were marked out and cut on the bandsaw...

I use an 18tpi bimetallic blade from a quality supplier and it works very well.
