Ted, I like #1. I like the simplicity but I'm biased due to my etching difficulties. I just changed to a stamp which presents its own issues.

In the for what it's worth department - I have a 8" wheels for my Bader 3, and a 10" wheel on my Herbst grinder. The Bader has serrated and plain wheels and from what I've been told, the serrated wheels grind cooler, but is more aggressive. Personally, I've haven't really noticed a difference...

Thanks Ted! While it seemed like a disaster at every turn, I've gotten to the point where I can in most cases adapt and overcome. Previously, a mistake equated to the knife being tossed in the junk pile, perhaps after being thrown against a wall :)
