Advice on bending folder pocket clips

Heating it is easy enough. The trick is keeping it hot enough to bend without tearing. If you get it hot enough to where it stays hot for longer than three or four seconds you can manipulate it easy enough but if it is just a stove top about orange/red color is as hot as you'll get it which...

What is your favorite collaboration knife?

I like the RJ Martin ones too by Kershaw but the Hawk collabs have been the most fun for me. I loved that ET folder so much I had to buy a custom one from Gavin just to have it too. I own four of the Kershaw ET models with my favorite one being the urban camo one. My wife loves her ET I got her...

What's your favorite production folder and why?

Currently I have a lot of faves but the JYDII SG2 frame lock is a great folder I really find to be perfectly done other than the pocket clip which I fixed right quick to suit myself by making mine tip up carry. Oh and I also added an ambi thumb stud. STR

What exactly turns you guys on by Balis?

I just ask because I've never taken to them. Obviously many have but whats the appeal for you? I mean how do you open one to use it without drawing attention to yourselves and where can you even carry one these days? Just curious and I mean no offense by it. I do respect the lock up...

    My humble Chris Reeve collection

Beautiful collection you got there. I didn't realize the Mnundi was so much smaller in scale than the Sebenza. I may have to look into one myself one day. If you have a shot of one looking down into the lock up view showing the full length I'd like to see that too if possible. Thanks for...

What are your favorite blade steels? Why?

Based on all the 01 talk I may have to try that one more in some of my own folders but I do have at least one in that steel and I agree the stuff gets biting sharp quick and easy. 5160 is a great steel for choppers but I've actually cut out a folder blade some time back and already had it...

    Gull Wing shots

Nice! Love that top one the way you cheated a bit of choil out of it. Also, it kind of reminds me a bit of the mini Manix without the thumb hole or big foot print. Thats nice too. 2thumbs STR

What are your favorite production folders?

Spyderco has managed to stay consistently at the top of the list for me for years so they got my vote but I like others and go in and out always appreciating new models no matter who made it. Well, if they catch my eye I mean. STR

No offense to anyone posting but I haven't seen anything yet I like better than the top of the page where it reads,"Knife Dogs Forums for the Knife Industry with the bulldog to the right except for Gun Mike's post with the same dog holding a knife in its mouth. To me that looks pretty darn good...

Best Bang For The Bucks 2009

Here lately I've learned that as conscious as I thought I was about what is currently out there in the hands of end line users I've managed to get mailed a couple surprises in the way of knives that flew below my radar. While not all of these are/were ones I'd put in the best bang for the buck...

    Silpjoint makers and Belts?

Doesn't matter to me the steel. I use the 50 grit mustard yellow 3M belts on all of em! I get incredible life out of these belts too. Even the 80 grits seem to last longer than the blaze orange ones I have which are good but they don't keep up with the yellow ones in my experience. I use some...

What are your favorite blade steels? Why?

I have an 01 blade model from Mike England ( a folder) and that blade is a coated one although I am not sure how he coated it. Mike is an Oklahoma maker but that blade really performs well. I've not used it a lot because its a liner lock but one made with no detent ball so its basically a...

What are your favorite blade steels? Why?

Seems like a lot of folks have a strong preference for one steel over another. My take on this is relatively simple. If it works it works no worries about what it is. Honestly I worry more about geometry since I've had so many so called great steels that didn't perform very great at all being...
