    best production kitchen knives

I picked up some Chicago Cutlery kitchen knives at a rummage sale for $5. They cut really nice, especially compared to my dad's Henkels, which are the finely serrated blades. Of course mine need a whole lot more upkeep... but who doesn't love that? (I had a thread about these blades Here) We...

Where do you buy your Knife Supplies?

I buy nearly everything either locally, or from usaknifemakers or alphaknifesupply. Tracy and Chuck are both really good guys. Tracy has a larger variety than Chuck has, but sometimes Chuck has just what I was looking for. I've talked with both of them and highly recommend either. One thing that...

    Standoffs to small.

I got a ton of brass standoffs cheap, and I've used them as homemade loveless style bolts.

    Need Rescue Dogs OUCH

When I get a virus, my sinuses give me horrible headaches. My doctor told me it sounded exactly like a cluster headache. Actually, he prescribed me some cluster headache meds, but they didn't help. They are only present around the times when people get sick (even if I have no other cold/flu...

2010 Knife Dogs Choice Awards Categories

Out of those options, I really only liked the hawk, sword, and axe category, and the neo tribal would be cool, too. But I wasn't really sure for the other two. I went with tactical fixed blade, because there are quite a few of them made, so I think it'd be good if they had their own category...

I really can't help you with any help, because I haven't finished any hidden tangs yet, but I have seen pictures where people do have the tang extend just a bit, then weld a threaded rod on.

What is the most difficult step of knifemaking for you?

For me, the hardest part is finding time to do it. Full time student, afterschool activities, and a part time job eats up all of my time. Any time I have left I have for homework, eating, sleeping, and occasionally I have a few hours total that I can relax.

    1st Annual Knife Dogs Awards

I respectfully disagree. I think that knives can be fit into many many categories, because anything that is sharp can be used to cut something somehow. I like the general parameters of "monosteel fixed blade" instead of defining what the knife can be used for, etc. This would also reduce the...

    Where to buy 440C

I always have a good time ordering from Alpha. Chuck is a great guy and will answer any of your questions super quickly. His prices are good too, but the steel is usually in 10" or so lengths, so there is extra waste. But that's sometimes just a little more material to have in case of a screw up ;)

    1st Annual Knife Dogs Awards

As I was reading this thread, I was thinking to myself that a separate forum would be necessary. Then I saw that it has already been decided upon. My only concern will be having 50+ (likely 100+) pictures to look through and find my favorite. And I also like the categories that are in the...

    Scoliosis... My story

Here's an update. In December, I had a 4 month followup, took x rays of different positions to show the level of flexibility in my spine. The Doctor looked at the x rays and today I had the followup of the followup. The good news is that it looks like my lumbar curve appears to be very flexible...
