I want to give antler scales a try but I want to keep them intact as much as possible. My question is how do you keep the antler around the pins intact? I dont want the pins to stick out to far and grab some hand skin but I dont want to sand them down and have big circles around the pins where...

Anyone have a good method for testing the edge after ht and tempering? I can shave with the edge and chop but I dont know how to test the edge to get a good idea how tough it really is.

I received a knife in this summers KITH that was super glue finished and its holding up pretty well. The maker told me that he finished at 1000 grit I think then put a coat of superglue then sanded at 1000 again. then did it again and again. I think in the end he did 10 coats. He did a good...

I am looking into forging a san mai blade/billet but i am not sure what material should or can be used. I am thinking i can use mild steel and a hardening steel. Can I use 1080 and mild steel from home depot? Definition after etching is not my main concern. forging it successfully and making it...
