Just got this from the engraver this morning 44C blade nickel silver sheath and guard mammoth ivory handle. Deane

I did find some pictures The sheath is one piece, is was rolled on the top and soldered on the bottom, the handle is real California abalone shell, some people seid the blade was to short to be an original but it fit the sheath, who knows. Deane

Hanks for the kind comments, I do like making them, Michael Price and Will & Fink made some great knives from 1850 to 1900. I was lucky enough to make a copy off a original Michael price may have some pictures. Deane

Here are two California style knives done in a joint venture the blades are by Buzz Johns the rest by me, the engraving is by Franz Marktl. One blade is damascus the other is 440 C one handle pre ban ivory the other is ironwood, sheaths and fittings are nickel silver. Deane

A knife maker friend of mine recently passed away and did not get his last one completed, so I finished up the knife and made a sheath for it, he made mostly California knives, this one has a O1 blade nickel silver guard and sheath, the handle is from an old cutlery set. Deane

I bought this MOP handle in England, was not smart enough to ask how thick it was and it is not, so had a thin piece og damascus that was thin, so made a letter opener for the one that has everything. Deane

If anyone has an interest in a vice I have a W-H the jaws are 10 " wide it opens to 10" the slide tubes have some etching on them but slide smoothly they are 1 5/8 in diameter, it is not a quick release, do not use this would take 50.00 the shipping may be more than it is worth, am in Reno. Deane

I have used 440 C and ATS 34 for 20 years , will give you a good edge holding and corrosion resistant blade with out cryo treatment, had some cryo treated, the only thing I could sharpen them with was a diamond, thought they were to hard for the average person. Deane

It needs a simple damascus guard with a damascus frame and blue mammoth scales, there is a simple solution to your problem, just put it in a box and send it to me and I will worry about it, great blade, what ever you do it will look great . Deane

Mark, I used to solder all my guards don't any more, the only solder and flux that worked for me was stay- Brite by Harris Jantz has it, I went to a soldering iron, it dose not over heat your steel worked good for me, have a American Beauty 600 watt that I don't use anymore, would sell it, will...

Mark, that is a good looking Loveless influnced knife, tapered tang red liners 1/4" pines radius on the bottom of the blade where it goes into the guard hollow grind, you mite think about using brass pines , it was a big deal to hide your pines, when I first made Loveless influenced knives and...
