    California Knives

    I did find some pictures The sheath is one piece, is was rolled on the top and soldered on the bottom, the handle is real California abalone shell, some people seid the blade was to short to be an original but it fit the sheath, who knows. Deane

    Finished for a friend.

    A knife maker friend of mine recently passed away and did not get his last one completed, so I finished up the knife and made a sheath for it, he made mostly California knives, this one has a O1 blade nickel silver guard and sheath, the handle is from an old cutlery set. Deane

    Letter opner

    I bought this MOP handle in England, was not smart enough to ask how thick it was and it is not, so had a thin piece og damascus that was thin, so made a letter opener for the one that has everything. Deane

    Quench plate sizes?

    If anyone has an interest in a vice I have a W-H the jaws are 10 " wide it opens to 10" the slide tubes have some etching on them but slide smoothly they are 1 5/8 in diameter, it is not a quick release, do not use this would take 50.00 the shipping may be more than it is worth, am in Reno.     Recommend me a stainless?

    I have used 440 C and ATS 34 for 20 years , will give you a good edge holding and corrosion resistant blade with out cryo treatment, had some cryo treated, the only thing I could sharpen them with was a diamond, thought they were to hard for the average person. Deane

    Guard or no guard? What do you think would work for this blade?

    It needs a simple damascus guard with a damascus frame and blue mammoth scales, there is a simple solution to your problem, just put it in a box and send it to me and I will worry about it, great blade, what ever you do it will look great . Deane
