    Antlered handled drop point skinner

This was a Christmas gift for my father n law this year. Its just my 2nd full tang knife, new 5160 blade and mild steel fittings. I didn't have a disc sander for the first one, it made lots of difference for fitting the handle to the guard and pommel. I managed a pretty good fit, but can see...

    Aging a blade

Have any of you boiled a blade in distilled water after rusting to convert to black oxide?

    Handle Tutorial

Nice tutorial. Thanks for posting it. This reminded me I still need a vise for the drill press.

    Cutting Blanks

Since I forge I don't really cut blanks with it, but thats the saw I use too. I also use it for other general smithing tasks. I drilled and cut (with the portaband) a piece of angle and bolted it under the forward handle, and at first clamped it into my vice when I wanted to use it. Now I have...

    Bamboo EDC Package

Definitely recognizable as your work. The blade finish is real eye catching. I thik I understand how you did it, but not certain. Was this a narrow, like 3/4" or so sanding stick?

Tong Styles - What does or Could work best for forging knives?

I made another pair today. These are similar to the style on the ABS video and are made from 1/2" round stock. They hold nicely and don't require drawing out larger stock.

Tong Styles - What does or Could work best for forging knives?

I'm not sure what the proper name for these tongs would be, I have been wanting to make them ever since I spotted the tongs Albert Craven used in one of my favorite videos http://www.youtube.c...h?v=zpeyhC-UIFg . I wanted something to use while forging knives and working with flat sock that...

    Peening Anvil

Good idea. A trailer hitch ball might not be as pretty but should work also and could be clamped in a vise or put into a hardy hole or just bolted down if desired.

What smithing related tools are used for forging blades?

Thanks for the replies, hope to see more and pics would be great :) . I fully understand these are not "needed" , I just like to make tools. I am working on a guillotine now which I thought might be helpful to try my hand at integrals ??, but was not my primary purpose for making it. I like...

What smithing related tools are used for forging blades?

I'm not sure I am asking this correctly, but I was wondering if there are any smithing tools being used for forging blades? and if so, how? For example I have seen Godzilla posted on a thread somewhere on here, it was I believe a swing arm fuller, but couldn't tell what it was being used for...
