    My first knife

Looks nice man; you have to start somewhere. The others are right about the rear being hard, but you say you did not quench the rear..Maybe you will still be able to drill. Curious..how did you heat treat this? As for the handles, cnc is right about the way they are usually done. You really...

    Unusual request

He did reply to an email I sent. He said that he got the material from the tower from a ladder comapny with FDNY. He did nort specify which and also said that he did not have any more. I don't have any contacts with FDNY, especially any that might now where I could find some of this stuff.

    Unusual request

I saw a thing yesterday in the latest edition of the NRA magazine where a charity knife built by Jerry Fisk had a damascus blade forged from steel from one of the twin towers and also the USS Cole. The knife brought more than $25k at auction. I would really like to do a charity knife myself...

    New Flipper Design in progress

For starters, This is what we have: I have enough material here for two knives. I'm going to make two of them, right along side each other. One will be donated for auction for St. Jude Childrens hospital, and the other either carried by myself or reserved for the person it was designed...

    CTS-XHP and CPM S35 VN..Any Good?

My buyer wants this stuff for a flipper design I'm going to make. rhinoknives--I was of the understanding that cpm s35vn was the answer to cpm s30v. Something about s35vn was easier to grind, polish, work etc..but it came at a cost because it never did really hold up as well as the original...

    CTS-XHP and CPM S35 VN..Any Good?

So I was commisioned about a year ago to build a new flipper designed for a friend. He apparently knows more about blade steels than I do. Saturday, at Blade, I gathered the materials for the knife, which I have just not gotten around to buying yet. In my search for blade steel, I had...

Ever make one of those mistakes that will stick with you for the rest of your life?

I have a coworker who is really into Queen cutlery knives. He has been having trouble finding one so I suggested we look on Ebay. There were some there, and he really liked a few of them. I just left it at that, figured I'd suprise him. I won the auction, and got the knife about two weeks later...

    Talk about lucky

That's great man. Congrats on the great prize. I could sure use a tractor at the house. I know you will put it to good use. Every year the company I work for has a safety drawing. You have to have perfect attendance and no safety violations. They put your name on a ping pong ball and draw out...
