    Pocket Clips - correct metal?

You know I have some Ti that would probably work. Never thought of using that. I'll give it a shot. Thanks :)

my first liner locking folding knife!

Great first effort. I like the return sweeping pocket clip. I attempted a liner lock for my very first knife and pulled it off, and it was one of the most challenging things I've ever done. That said, I think you did a very good job.

    Pocket Clips - correct metal?

I've only done a few pocket clips for some knives I've made. I used 410SS for those, and for some reason I never could get a good heat treat or spring action out of the metal. I always ended up with a clip that would bend and stay bent. And as you all probably know, you have to overbend the clip...

    Snap shut?

Sounds like you are losing tension in the closed position. It is kind of an awkward feat of physics in any light at this position, but I would say that this one position of the three is the hardest to get. Several of mine have done the exact same thing. You may try a little more spring tension...

So what makes a flipper a flipper?

I found it! http://custombladeworks.com/tutorials/tutorial/ I have been wanting to review that for some time, but had forgotten where I found it. A little google searching did the trick :)

So what makes a flipper a flipper?

I don't seem to have any pictures of all the pieces as they were unassembled before it was put together, but this is a half way pic. Unfortunately, you can't see the slots in the liners for the floating pin which are hidden by the outer aluminum handle scales- You can see some of the...

So what makes a flipper a flipper?

Ed, I just went back and checked out your flipper WIP. Rex McClellan suggested I do so, -so thanks to him for that link :) Ironically, the first knife I ever made incorprated alot of those design aspects, more specificly the floating pin. I have done that, so I guess I should just try to...

So what makes a flipper a flipper?

Thanks yall. I had a hunch that it had something to do with the tang that protrudes from the back of the handle when closed. I am confident that I can pull that off, but the area in question that will be a challenge for me is the pivot action. I don't think I have made a knife yet that...

So what makes a flipper a flipper?

I have a friend of mine wanting me to make him a flipper. While I have heard of them, I am not exactly sure what constitutes a "flipper". What features must be incorporated into the knife in order for it to be a flipper? Thanks

    MDA Slipjoint

Update: This knife sold 210 of its planned 400 tickets, and raised $2010 for MDA. A local woman who purchased 10 tickets won the knife :)

Finally broke down and did it, got myself a mini mill

Eric, I've wanted a mill since I got out of high school. That was 8 years ago, and I was finally sick of telling myself "one day"..I couldn't really afford this either, but maybe some of my work will start selling soon and I can offset the cost a little. Rex, stop by any time. I'm not doing...

Finally broke down and did it, got myself a mini mill

The machines are cheaply made. They are good for what you use them for (within their capabilities) but beyond that is a little too much to ask. They are perfect for people like us who will just be doing small work on knives and such. In other words, these are not Bridgeports. What I said in...
