I recently came across a large local supply of kydex.......I now basically use kydex for all my sheaths......i do love a good leather sheath for knives but the expense of materials and time involved or the cost of having a custom sheath made has pushed me towards pressing my own kydex...

the antlers i use have been stored inside for several years and some even longer......not all of the antler i use shrinks away from the tang but enough to give me grief.......i think the culprit is the wood heat in the showroom drying out the air too much.....i am going to wipe on some beeswax...

I dont use AEB-L at all but i was wondering if it still warps if you harden and temper before grinding........also if it is left clamped in the aluminum quench plates till it is cold? I grind everything post heat treat when using stainless

Kev.....ask for some scrap bearings at your local machine shop and cut a slice thru the outer race....straighten and then forge the flats equal and flat and then proceed to forge a profile...then your tapers.....the forming of the bearing race into a flat bar is great forging experience that...

I am old school enough to like a mirror polish......I find grinding to 15 micron on a 3m finishing belt and then going to the buffer will produce a good finish.....I use a few grades of compound on my 1 1/2 hp baldor buffer at 3600 rpm and get a good quality finish

I do a lot of hollow grinds up to 20 inch wheel and i will grind to 15 micron with 3m film back belts and off to the buffer for a great finish......on flat ground knives i basically have to hand sand after 320 grit on the rotary platen......i dont use any fluid on the hand sanding and get a good...

hey guys did you notice that the blade was that little bit wider than the handle.......that solves the problem of installing a cross guard on a full tang knife.....would require some pretty fine fitting of the guard with a file but can be done.......i am sure in production everything was...
