    have you used the film backed 3m belts........i know that i am not crazy about the trizact belts from 3m but the film back micron belts have really good results for me.......i use a 20 inch wheel a lot for hollow grinds and a rotary rubber backed platen on the flat grinds......i go down to 5...

    I don.t think i ever seen a bob loveless or jim merrit video or any of the old school makers hand sanding a blade......mind you when i think about it most of their knives were hollow ground....i think that tkroenlein is right on that the scotchbrite belts will wash out your crisp grind...

    I sanded and polished a scrap piece of curly maple today......holy cow did it ever buff up great........nice deep polish........would not take the stain very well after....just an experiment anyway....i may try a small kitchen knife with just polishing on the curly maple.....a different look

    I just finished a couple of small hunting hatchets with curly maple handles......I used 5 or 6 coats of dark walnut danish oil on the curly maple.....I wasn,t happy with the finish as it was not as glossy as i have had before......I thought what the heck and went to the buffer with white...

    I am pretty sure if you google Knife Sports International you will get the specs........it is like 15 in overall...10 in blade....2 in max width.....must have thong hole........forward hole i think.....lots i have seen are 3/8 thick at the spine with full flat grind.......they like to use horse...

    I . like to order the aqua-fortis stains but for some reason they don,t ship to canada.......i would guess it would be MSDS regulations......if there are any canadian members watching this please share if you know where to get in canada........also if there is some one who uses potassium...

    has anybody used potassium permanganate to dye curly maple........i have some on order from amazon and could use any tips on using it.....i am not satisfied with the stains i have been using as i would like the grain to pop out better
