    Eight piece construction knife.

Nice! I like the pin arrangement and what's not to love about maple burl?

    Flattening new scales

I agree. I think it makes sense to flatten the concave side. I would be concerned that they are not done drying out and may continue to warp, but if they do, there will be less tendency to pull away from the blank out around the edges. And hopefully the pins and glue will keep the middle flat too.

What's going on in your shop?

Yeah. Just a little nick. Was drilling pin holes in a set of handle scales and using a piece of oak 4x4 for backing. Something went wonky and the whole shebang was spinning. Luckily I hit the switch before it went through my wife's windshield!

What's going on in your shop?

Yeah, you've heard it before from people smarter than me... Clamp your @@@@ down when using the drill press! Luckily it was wood and not a blade helicoptering.

Can hot scale pins damage the epoxy?

Not sure about the epoxy, but if you get the pins too hot they can burn the edges of the holes they are in if wood, or possibly melt other synthetic materials.

    Did I cut this wrong?

I like the grain on that piece. I'm worried about the potential of breaking it in half while clamping or pushing pins though it though...

    Hello from Vancouver

Welcome! You could maybe start by buying premade blades and adding handles to them if you're not into the metal work/forging part of the hobby.

    Anybody know what these are?

https://trn.trains.com/railroads/ask-trains/2011/11/pandrol-rail-fasteners This one has more technical info on the material - but may not be the same as what you have: https://www.indiamart.com/proddetail/rail-clips-e-clip-elastic-rail-clip-erc-10501924288.html

    Anybody know what these are?

They might be some sort of wheel chock to keep a rail car from rolling away when disconnected. The flat part would go under the wheel. Just guessing though...

    Checkered Damascus hunter...

Again, the cleanliness of that wood to metal connection area just amazes me. And the checkering and Damascus are awesome. Good Job!
