Did you heat the brine to any specific temp before the quench?

This is such a perfect thread. I came here and searched for "1095 quench" and BAM! Answers! :D I've got a few 0.093" thick paring knives in 1095 that I am about 2 days from heat treating. After reading that the olive or canola has had some success on thinner sections, I'm no longer worried...

While the spikes certainly add a certain level of bad-assery to a hawk, I can see the hammer being WAY more functional. Great looking hawks!

Thanks guys! :) I'm having to fight to keep this one away from my girlfriend. The blade is 0.090", and she likes that it is a lighter overall weight. Agreed on Kirinite. I love this stuff!

I was wondering the same thing. And I think black electrical tape may need to be added to the elite level of duct tape and bailing wire. There always seems to be another use for the stuff! (I say that because I've learned to use it playing soccer, to keep the tops of my socks up...)

Thanks Frank. I'll look up the clear cerakote now. Golf is fun for me. I can play under 110 pretty much anyway and that's good enough to make me want to go again and again.
