    waiting for the new clay I lined my forge with to dry,,,,,, if this is what the old timers did,,, you telling me they sat around and waited for it to air dry while customers with money are waiting!!!??? It's killing me to wait,,...

    Question about finishing scales

    I agree with J on the oil. Teak oil is the bomb. Looks great, can be allowed to obtain different final finishes depending on how much you put on, tough and easily refurbished later on if needed. Nice work!

    thank you both for your help. someone suggested I remix the clay with 50/50 clay/sand mixture. Says it will last longer. What say you?

    I lined the bottom with clay. Please comment on the shape if it needs redoing, first time for me. Don't want to cure it before final shaping. Hope should I cure it? Just stay a chock fire and get to work,,,take hot coals from another coal forge and slow cure it? thanks

    I love repurposing things,,, old Mag light+Kershaw blade=survival knife. Very light!!!
