To the OP, An Oven is one of the last pieces of equipment you need to get started on your knife. I've been making knives since 96 and still don't own a heat treat oven. I send them out for HT. Nothing wrong with doing your own, but Files or a grinder and a drill press are much more necessary...

    Kirinite BLOCK supplier?

Another way would be to use the Kirinite in segments and put spacer materials between. Just like you did that cool carving set. only you would have a lot more segments.

Which metal cuting band saw to buy?

I used a HF 4 x 6 for about 15 years. Only reason I sold it was I needed to down size, As has been mentioned, Use it vertically. I sat on mine and worked away! Its really all you need for cutting bar stock and sharping profiles.

Which metal cuting band saw to buy?

Get the HF 4 x 6 if you have the room it runs a 64 1/2" blade or, Get a 44 1/8" and a swag off road table for it. Most important is to buy USA made Morse, Starrett Bi-metal blades for it.

    Offensive Cheapskates !

Chris, In my experience's, you told the man just the right thing. As we have talked about before and Ed and Rob just mentioned. You can always raise your price for your Custom knives. But each time you take less, at a knife show you are digging a hole for yourself you might not ever be able...

Nice looking Kitchen Kutters. I like the handles too.:35: One little suggestion. Grind & Dunk Grind & Dunk when you grind the handle pins. It looks like one got a little scorched leaving a little ring in the Amboyna.

    Baldor 1/4HP 1800 rpm buffer adequate ?

I think both Bossdog & Ed along with any other maker thats worked and been around buffers for over a decade or two that Buffer's seem to have a Gremlin factor! :what!: There really didn't seem to be a reason for it yet the knife was grabbed and launched. More so that any other tool in a shop...

    Handle Liners

I personally avoid nasty G-10 because when you grind it turns into little fish hooks & if the stuff gets in your lungs it can only come out after you assume room temperature:15: . I use Kydex, I generally epoxy it all up at once but glueing it up first works well too.

    Bearings maintenance

On top of what Calvin said, I carry two knives most of the time and I prefer to have one be a cheap simple folder to eat off of that's stainless and a slip or lock back that I can put under a stream of water and soap to clean any crud build up out of it from cutting foods.
