What will give the most bang for my buck? Disc grinder or metal band saw?

I have a homemade table for a Harbor Freight bandsaw that I no longer use. It's made from a piece of 1/4" aluminum plate. You are welcome to it if you want it. (if the shipping cost isn't to high).

    A new toy

I modified a generic-Chinese 14" bandsaw for cutting thin metal. Anything about 3/8" or less cuts well with an 18tpi blade.

Still in the rough 2x72 belt grinder.

I just try and clean up after myself as often as possible and I'm pretty good about returning a tool to it's place after using it. My wife does a thorough cleaning of my shop for me every Spring (which will soon be upon us) which I really enjoy and she also sweeps it out for me now and then. I...

LOL, I know exactly what you mean! I am thinking of building a 6"x48" belt sander next and I could buy the durn thing fairly reasonably!

Still in the rough 2x72 belt grinder.

Yeah, I have this debilitating disease of "trying to do it cheaper" and it almost always costs me more in the long run, I just can't seem to shake it. I tell myself to "watch it" but I keep doing it. For some reason I have to purchase and ruin the cheap one before I buy the right one...

Still in the rough 2x72 belt grinder.

I am working up a new belt grinder and I always enjoy seeing photos of other's work so here is one of mine: I am running a 3hp Harbor Freight motor, 220v 1ph with a 4 step pulley. I have another work rest that is about half the size of the one in the photo and is made of 1/4" steel plate. I...

Grinder motor died. In a quandary which direction to go, VFD or?

I am just finishing up building a new 2x72 grinder and I opted for a 3hp Han motor from Harbor Freight. I run it on 220v single-phase and it does a fine job. I purchased mine for about $135.00 with a 20% off coupon. I figure a Harbor Freight 3hp motor is probably about the same amount of power...

Whatever happened to the BritishBlades forums?

I used to read a forum called British Blades. I can no longer find their Site anywhere. Does anyone know if they have moved their web address?
