Most informative interview I have seen on stainless damascus: Interview with Will Brigham

Key part: hitherto uh hitherto we've all pretty much accepted flux as a necessary evil the borax base flux commonly in use works as a solvent to dissolve oxides and some other non-combustible surface contaminants after it's been applied it liquefies and capillary action allows it to penetrate...

Stabilizing Wood and Acrylic Resin Hybrid Scales

Another link here: This guy makes amazing resin/wood tables, and due to the size cannot use a vaccuum or pressure, he uses slow set, high viscosity resin. He doesn't even vibrate the mould and gets perfect results.

Nice! But why does it have half a ballerina police chalk outline in the lid?

Stabilizing Wood and Acrylic Resin Hybrid Scales

I've only stabilized 4 handles. But.. I also have watched MANY Youtube videos! This vid here shows both processes combined. The guy uses a pressure pot and a vaccuum pot. The vaccuum for the cactus juice, and the pressure pot for the casting resin. So I think that answers the question. If he...

My passive air filter mask: fudge, cheapo, alternate to the £1200 option

Burning toast at the moment in a pan with the door in the kitchen closed. Really thick smoke yet can just smell a tint of it if I move my head too fast. Defo works!!

My passive air filter mask: fudge, cheapo, alternate to the £1200 option

It works! I breath out as much as I can to fog up the mask and it auto clears instantly.

2nd hand forged knife in the books

I know it is contentious, but I respect more, knives forged to shape with minimal grinding compared to carved out of flat steel with a bandsaw. This is why I plan to include integral bolsters so you know I had to forge it. It's a tricky one.. As the end result is a knife either way. So does it...

Has anyone used Belian Iron wood?

It's bad... I have one bit of zebrano.. and I'm thinking "hmmm I should have at least 6 bits so I could make a whole cutlery knife set from it"... As addictions go.. not the worst right? Your knives are gorgeous by the way. And yes... those handles... wowzers :)

Has anyone used Belian Iron wood?

I'm a sucker for a offcut wood shop. Anything unusual I snap it up. I'm sure I'll use it. Most likely for handles for my hand made forging tools. But naturally high resin red wood, has got to be useful for a colour option. At the price I bought it for, it'll make a lot of handles and spacers...

Has anyone used Belian Iron wood?

Spoon instead? "Looks like Ipe. Dense hardwood from Brazil used for decking." Looked it up... under £5 for 12 inches at 3 inches wide. Did I get a bad deal? https://ipewoods.com/product/1-x-4-eased-edge-ipe-random-lengths/ Is it decent for handles? ('ll cut it down to size ;)

Tyrell Knife works just released a video with parts list for his press:

Has anyone used Belian Iron wood?

I bought this at an exotic wood offcut place. It was labelled as iron wood, which after further research it is, but from borneo (I think), and they use it for decking! I bought it for £76 and they cut the big chunk in half for me. This is it with a splash of water on it. Is it any good for...

    6.25" skinner/edc for sale

You did a great job, can barely tell. Looks like you used a dark upper part of the wood to help the matching work better? Anyways. Lovely knife.
