Did someone say Neo Tribal KITH ?????

A great deal of well executed detail. Knife has an interesting spirit and seems to have a lot of motion. Great work!

do you like file work on a knife?

Robertcarter, I agree with you on this. Unique is better. And, the more you do file work the better it will look. I think all of us cringe at the knives we made in the beginning! I just hope my feeble efforts improve with time!

A dunk bucket tip for all!

The antifreeze must be working as an anti-oxidant, which in some way or another prevents the steel from combining oxygen with the iron content. It probably also prevents oxidation in a wide range of metals. Also, does viscosity have something to do with a quench? I remember reading somewhere...

    forged in 45

    Stainless question

O.K., after 25 views or so I can conclude that so far no one knows the composition of this steel. Picked up a couple 3/4 ton pick-up used shocks from a neighbor yesterday and will disassemble them and take some pics of this stuff. Might call the manuf. and see if they will tell me what the...

do you like file work on a knife?

First off, file work IS practical if used properly. On my short drop edged knives I try and place some simple file work where the thumb naturally lands on the spine of the knife just forward of the end of the handle material. Now, I can use simple file cuts evenly placed for a better grip, but...

    Stainless question

Most of us in this section do not use stainless and that includes me. While perusing the most recent edition of the Backwoodsman magazine I read a piece where someone was repurposing the stainless from shock absorber shafts into blades. My question to those of you who may know the stainless...

    Mitake

Not sure if I am butting in here or not. Tomahawks and many derivations were trade items from the European traders both in Canada and the Eastern portion of what is now America beginning around 1650 or slightly earlier. The originals were smith made in Europe of wrought iron with a steel...

    Apple skinners for Eugene

Thanks! I'll have to check out the Atomic Balm. Thats new to me. I really appreciate different sheath/leather work and yours is definitely unique and well executed. A great many makers go to extraordinary lengths to make terrific blades and then make a simple utilitarian sheath. Sort of like...

"Kill Bill" wrapped primal/tactical kwaiken and Bowie

Oh damn, there you go again! Great work and will now have to learn another skillset ......braiding paracord for my survival knives. Just when I thought things were going smoothly.....I get sucked in again!

    A Bowie

A very "serious" Bowie to be sure! Great work! I second whoever mentioned doing more leather/bead work. You have a good eye for symmetry and scale. Ever thought about doing some Celtic knotwork bead motifs?

    My blade, Snakewood's handle

    I am, er, speechless.

    Another Dag Blade

Very interesting work. You need to get in touch with the experimental archaeology crowd. You would be a good fit. Have you thought about doing any smoke tanning after the brain tanning process? Turns the leather very dark and makes it pretty much water proof for a time.
