I've got the same ones. They're light, too. Mine are the 400 gram I used them in the fall. I didn't know they had been around so long. Mine lasted about two years, too. The rubber pulled away from the leather above the sole so no longer water proof.

My wife got me a good book awhile back: Making Leather Knife Sheaths by David Holter and Peter Fonteddu. It goes through the process of building a clip into a sheath in one of the projects.

I discovered Anchorseal as I was looking up the pentacryl and found a forestry forum where a lot of people swear by it for logs. I was looking into ordering them both when our internet cut out again. We've got a semi local hardware store that might have them but everything is about double the price.

I've done the same thing trying to get more life out of some belts....I tried oil, too with a little of the same result but not as bad.

Nice knife Ted. I don't think its an ugly duckling. I definitely see that as a family heirloom. Your guard and screw are original and the components compliment each other. That is a beautiful build.

I coated some fresh blocks with boiled linseed oil in December and they are already starting to check. I'm kinda curious, too. I know we can paint them but was hoping to learn of an alternative to paint.

Hi Bob, I was just thinking this through on a current small edc build for myself with birch burl. It has pretty grain, but not super nice with eyes and swirls. I still wanted to give it a shot until I walked out there, got in a hurry, forgot about my plan, and drilled the pin holes all the way...
