    Anvil question

A question for the anvil guru's. I have a couple of Peter Wrights, a 170# and a 129#, but would also like a post type. Living where I do, I don't have much of a source for really heavy chunks of heat treatable steel. My question is, if I can buy a chunk of 5in square and have it heat...

    Victorinox Swiss Army Knives EDC

I've carried a Swiss Champ for 15+ years, on my third one as I tend to lose them on occasion. I rarely use it as a knife as I carry other blades as well, but the scissors, pliers see lots of use. Of the 33 tools on a Champ, I think I've used all of them except for the fish scaler. Leadfoot

The Newell .45 cal front loader

Wonderfully interesting read, I learn so much from a good wip. Bruce, one question about the shield. Would this have not been easier to have made this in one piece? Part to be full thickness of the shield, and then narrowed down to cut the hammer shape and cocking notches? I'm sure that...

    2 new William Henry's

The lock itself is strong enough, but the button is easily pressed. A friend had his close on a finger, cutting it to the bone, while making a heavy cut. Beautifully made knives, but more suited for slicing task. Leadfoot

    Plate quenching

Thanks for the pic John, answered a few questions in my mind Stabber, I'm guessing it's to quickly clamp the hot steel, by being wide open you have room to lay the blade in the correct place and the quick release gets the clamp closed sooner. Leadfoot
