    blackened steel

Shokr I have had the same issue with a 52100 paring knife with not only blackening the blade (and the strawberries) but put off a rotten egg odor. As said above, some steels have their good and bad qualities. Having said that, for a larger protien type knife, I still love 52100! God Bless Mike

I have a question. Ive seen older steels pre 1960 that were smooth as in slick polished smooth, and I have also seen some that were finely grooved running lengthwise. What is the diffrence? Thanks, and God Bless Mike

    A little help here please!

My first choice would be to cut a bit oversize and send to K&G or one of the other pro stabilizers. having said that, looks like cactus juice may be a good alternative! You will have a cost to set up a vacuum tank if you don't have a pump, so if this is a one of, pro stabilized might be your...

    Safety Hint

Of all the above, I do believe the most painful for me was cutting myself on the edge of a running mylar belt. It cuts a trough so its hard to get to close! And those 36 grit belts, Blaze or not will sure do a number on a thumb tip or knuckle! God Bless Mike
