Morning Chef, sorry I'm late getting back to you. Bob has a small pamplet with his new tools on it, I believe the pony is on it. The vintage tools are to numerous to list and it's better to call him. He goes to lots of trade shows with his tools and it's nice to look at all the tools he's...

    groover vs. stitching holes

I find the push type groover works the best on the backside for me ( I use the holes for my guide on the backside if it's in outta sight) The only groovers of this type that I know of are the old osborne's but they would be easy for a bladesmith to duplicate. I groove before useing the awl...

Paul, I'm not aware of any Severe's in Colorado that build saddles. Bob Severe and his daughter in Idaho build saddles. Bob is a second cousin to my dad and grew up in Oakley Idaho. My dads family came from St Anthony Idaho, four of the brothers moved to Pendleton Oregon at the close of WW2...

Landis 3in1 Leather Cutter, Skiver, & Splitter Tool

Chef, watch for the splitter that has a little wheel on the top at each side for adjustment. They were built in 8" and 12" wide. When sharp and adjusted right they do a real nice job splitting leather. The old Osborne twist handle splitter works for sheath sized leather but takes a little...

    sewing machine?

Most used machines in that price range won't have a heavy enough needle bar for sheaths. Wouldn't hurt to start your research now on what you want as you build funds. Good luck in your search.

Landis 3in1 Leather Cutter, Skiver, & Splitter Tool

Chef, I have one I use when I'm cutting out saddle parts. The splitter/ beveler blade is only about 2" and is mainly used to to bevel leather to smothly make leather buildups in the shoe trade. I use it to bevel peices for the ground seats in saddles. It would only be usefull in rough...

    Home grown leather tools.

C Craft. I feels good when you get a tool that holds up to real hard use, feels good in the hand and will really get sharp. Most of the old vintage tools were that way and I have a lot of them. It sure makes me feel good to be able to match the steel in those old tools. Most all the credit goes...
