why do i need a disc sander - educate me

A disc sander is invaluable for flat scales. The big thing i want to sort for mine is a sensible adjustable work rest so I can match angled scale joints easily.

Thanks Tracy. Probably around the 3mm mark. It's a for a possible commission so when costs start coming in he may change his mind. :D

    Custom bread knives

I've never seen one of those before! May be a USA v UK thing though. :) So I assume that it's handy for getting the same thickness of bread slice each time?

how to deal with spine(profile) waving or gouges

I know what you mean. :) DO you use a metal contact wheel or rubber? Rubber would make the belt joint less of a problem. Move faster when grinding so you're not sat in one spot too long, grinding a dip. Or hand sanding. :D

Does the chuck wobble back and forth if you try and move it by hand when turned off?

Can visitors see or open thumbnail pictures?

On flickr, if you look above the picture it has a box the says share with a drop down arrow. Click the arrow then select the Grab the HTML/BB Code box then at the bottom of that hit the BB code button. Copy and paste all that text into your post instead of doing the insert image thing on here...

Bark River Knives Ice In pictures

I'm very jealous! :D I've been out of the loop on new Barkie models for a wee while as no funds to purchase so the easy way to resist is not to look but on that first picture, the models in the bottom left - anyone know what they are? Kukri?

Can visitors see or open thumbnail pictures?

I don't believe they can. I would just learn to use a hosting site. :) Personally I'm not a fan of thumbnails anyway - much prefer to see it full size from the off. Quite often I don't bother opening thumbmnails up larger so probably miss lots without realising.

The love of the Integral knife.

If I had to choose one style of knife for ever more, I would choose the forged integral. I don't really know why I love them. I can't describe why or what but I know I do. Gerhard Wieland often posts his work here and they are often quite complex but I don't know if he has posted this one...

    Leather Carving WIP

Nice work Josh. Now then, the swivel knife - I have seen it on various threads before but I'm curious as to why it doesn't cut through. Is it just a careful use of force and if you're not careful if will slice through to the other side. How deep does it cut. I assume it's use over a regular...

Problems always problem when your running out of time.

I think it's called Sod's Law, Art. :D If it hadn't have been a rush job it would have been fine! It's a shame as it's a fine knife otherwise.
