    Testing a Gut Hook

How does one test the sharpness of a gut hook.? I've used a dremel stone and 220 and 320 grit on a round file, but I can't tell if it will cut a gut. Don't have any spare Guts hanging around. What do you guys use to test?

Large Bandsaw Blades, Are they any good?

Yeah the guys doesn't quite know what he's talking about as far as the damascus goes. Why would they do that? I use steel from large bandsaws quite a bit and they make good filet knives. I would only buy some if they were really cheap, not for what he's asking. Just buy some good steel and know...

    USMC Ka Bar questions

Well I really wacked mine and also heated it up good and still couldn't get it to budge. I could have cut the pommel I guess, but I was trying to just disassemble it and not damage it. Don't believe it was made to take apart. I think it was swaged on to stay put.

    USMC Ka Bar questions

OK. Thought you might have found the secret. Doubt there was adhesive or a pin. Pommel might have been put on Hot and hit or something. I'm sure someone knows.

    Question for Grizzly owners

I almost bought the Coote, but built a NWG and love it. The coote is more expensive than the Griz as you provide the motor. It can be set up with pulleys where the Griz cannot without a lot of modifications. I have griz also and still use it for some things.

    USMC Ka Bar questions

It's not easy. I gave up trying to remove the pommel and refurbish one. The tang and pommel are extremely hard and I guess the tang is peened. I'd like to know if it can be done also.
