    8 inch sanding discs

Having looked on the USA Knifemaker site for stock on (PSA) sanding discs in 8 inch and not fond any, does anyone know of a supplier who sells these type of discs in the US please? U am in the UK and cannot find any at my two main stockists, normally I use Ryhnalox 40 grit PSA which I find...

    Ceramic Belts choices

Thanks for the replies guys, interesting one regarding the Norton belt, that would really bug me when working. The Cubitron 2s I have found great but as you say expensive, more so over here and their customers support is disgusting, certainly in the UK anyway. I have asked for support countless...

    Ceramic Belts choices

My partner is stateside at the moment so is going to bring me some belts back. I use cubitron 2 at the moment but hear good reports about the Norton Blaze which I haven't seen here. What are your thought please gents? Belts will be used on fully hardened steel as that all I grind, looking for...

    Vanax

The heat treat was done in bulk by a company in Sheffield UK using the molten salt as I had several Vanax blades done and 130 Elmax at the same time.

    Forging tong choices

Ok so I have decided I will be making an electric kiln in the coming months and so need forging tongs. This is the choice I found on my first UK search, which would be the best for removing knives up to say 11-14 inches in length please? I would imagine you ther will be a better choice when...

    Vanax

Yes that's what my pal showed me when the grind was done, he used a marker too. Its actually something that I can do on smaller knives but as this was so special I didn't want to mess it up.

    Vanax

My first try at a kitchen knife. Laser cut from Vanax and heat treated then Cyro. This knife will be used by the UK steel rep so afraid I cannot claim all the glory as I didn't want to mess this up so a pal did the grind off the back of the knife for me, in reality I could have done it but...

    Urgent Request- Double Sheath

Hi Gents I have a sheath maker making me a sheath for a client which needs to be a double sheath. So does anyone either have a design or a photo of one which isn't in the crossed knife style as it needs to be worn whilst deer stalking and so need to be as compact as possible. Its for two...

    Drilling Mamouth Tusk Scales

Probably the best tips I have ever had in knife making, I never knew about those drill bit sizes etc. .....oh the days I have struggled and cursed when drilling pins only to spend ages sanding the pins down in a drill chuck in order they fit. I also have one of those clamps which I made a...

    Couple of questions

Thanks Ed. I think I will have a go at both ways with the 'Damascus' as I feel, though could be wrong, its a hell of a lot easier to do it that way in the terms of time/cost/ The oven, looks like I will defo be having to build two then... Many thanks

    Couple of questions

Over the last few weeks I have been asking several questions about heat treating and stainless/carbon 'Damascus and have a couple of questions which occurred to me today. Ok regarding heat treat, I take it I would only need to make two ovens, one for HT and the other for tempering?......I take...

    Black Bog Oak

Thanks for the replies gents What I might do is build a mould and cast the wood in a dark colour mixed with the copper dust just before it is setting, ie so the dust does sink to the bottom. I will also gouge the surface with my Dremel as the stuff is seriously hard now stabilised. I will then...
