Need help with my heat treating

Thanks for your insight LRB. The test blades were flat and parallel, the test pieces were just profiled. Scale was removed on some of the pieces for a second test, with mostly same result. I think you may be right on about the temp control. I'll also try a thicker piece of steel, say 1/4"...

    Hello All

Welcome to the forum John. I think a lot of us started out the same way you are. My only regret is I didn't start about 25 years sooner, but then again there wasn't even an internet back then. There are a lot of good folk here who are very willing to share their knowledge.

    Final edge grinding tips?

Laurence, the felt wheels I have are very hard; much harder than the sewn muslin. I must be doing something wrong when I try to polish my edge on the sewn wheel with green chrome. I use a very light touch, but always seem to dull the edge rather than polish it.

    Final edge grinding tips?

Laurence, what kind of a buffing wheel do you use with the green chrome? Hard felt, sewn muslin, loose? then It to the buffer with green Chrome to remove the wire/burr. If you haven't created a burr/wire at your last belt or stone. It will not be sharp!

Anyone care to critique my maker's mark?

Yes, but they closed down this winter. They were fun to go to.

Anyone care to critique my maker's mark?

I too am a fan of keeping it simple. I think it was Ed Caffrey that said to use your first name, to clarify in the event that another maker named Kruger. Maybe use the blade image as the tall leg of the K. You only live about 45 minutes away from me. We should try to get together sometime.

    New model prototype,opinions please.

Calvin, I really like that one and I think the belly on the blade works fine. I think it would be a good for skinning game. Beautiful work, again. Thanks for sharing.
