2016 KD Members Choice Awards - BEST NEW BUILDER

I'd like to nominate Daniel Rohde. I met Daniel last August at the Knifedog Hammer-in. I've seen his work develop over the last couple of years, and considering he is 18 years old, I think he is one to keep an eye on. He is making some very fine knives.

    Looking for a little input/reasurance

Maybe this tip that was given to me by a very good knife maker. Make a plexiglass template the exact same size as your handle. Then hold it over the scale and find the "perfect" portion to use for the scale. With the plexiglass being clear, it is very easy to see the grain underneath.

    2016 Knife Dog's Knifemaker's Christmas Exchange!

Jim loves to make puukko knives, also hunters and folders; liner lock and slippies. I love wood with character, and some of the synthetic material but not the plastics. I work with carbon, stainless and Damascus steels. My grinders are 2 x 72. Merry Christmas everyone.

Sorta Custom- 52100 w/ Redwood and Carbon Fiber

Daniel, I can honestly say that your work just keeps getting better and better. Your grind lines are so crisp and clean, I envy you. Beautiful work on the handle, both in the choice of material and the fit and finish. You can be proud of this one. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.
