    Respirator recommendations

I've been using a 3m respirator for a while. Last night I used a cut off wheel, outside, to cut some kitchen knives out of a sheet of steel. I wore all my eye and breathing protection. But later that night I still had black crap coming out of my nose. I obviously need better protection...

    Survival handle knife. Rambo

Thanks Wayne. I etched my mark. I have a stamp, but I can just never get it to work well. I need some sort of press to use it with I think. The couple knives I've tried to use the stamp on got ruined. Sent from my XT1565 using Tapatalk

    Making a corkscrew. Question

I figure since this thread has been so active, I'd pass along that I was successful at my first attempt to forge a corkscrew. It's a pretty cool thing to put together in a short amount of time. Sent from my XT1565 using Tapatalk

    Making a corkscrew. Question

I was curious as to what thickness and type of steel I should use to make a corkscrew. Also what hardness would be recommended? I figured a tool steel would be fine, but I'd like to only make a small pile of bad corkscrews before I am successful! I know buying one is easier. But I had a...

USA knife maker survical handle tube

Thanks guys. I did some looking around at a few sites I buy steel from and found some steel that is BARELY bigger than the slot. I don't own a mill and do not want to risk filling the slot myself. So this will work I think. I have a friend that has his own mill that I'll most likely ask to...

USA knife maker survical handle tube

I have a friend that wants a "Rambo" knife. So I ordered the survival knife handle tube from USA knife. The slot in the end cap is .20 wide/ blade thickness. What thickness blade steel would anyone recommend? It's not like I can order steel that's 1/5 of an inch thick. I don't like...

    440c warped

In my opinion, and I've dealt with Texas kms, I have not been overly impressed with their customer service. I'd use Peters heat treat. I also agree with the previous poster that mentioned aluminum blocks for air quenching 440c. A fillet knife is too thin to just heat treat and let hang to...
