A few finished up and some firsts

Thought I would tag on to this post. A much better plungless grind on this one. Some minor issues to fix and there are some minor issues in the handle as well. But, progress is made.

How Many Times Have You Said It?

I’ve used the “this is my last tool” line on my wife many times. Sometimes I believed myself but I don’t think she ever belived It. A few years ago at woodcraft with my wife, she got bored while I was shopping and she threw her name and my name into a raffle for a free lathe. Turns out, I won...

A few finished up and some firsts

Thanks again. I am working on the second kitchen knife with plungless grind line attempt. So far it is better but I’m finding there has to be more room to feather the grind before impacting the tang. Even when grinding at an angle verses going just horizontally I still need more room. Maybe the...

I can’t help you either but it sure looks nice.

A few finished up and some firsts

Thank you guys. I think I’m going to enjoy the challenge of kitchen knives. Totally different kind of build. Hope to get the plungless grind lines down soon.

    Something different for me

Nice video. I’ve tried micarta once. It turned out okay but it was such a huge mess. You certainly found an efficient and mess-free way to do it. Thanks for sharing.

A few finished up and some firsts

A few finished up in the last month and a half. Inspired by a couple knife makers I follow, I decided to play around with deep hollow grinds on a couple of these. The straight razorish looking knife is more of a utility knife made from scrap steel. It’s more for around the house kinda stuff...

    Tapering tangs.

I’ve watched quite a few Jack Lore you tube videos. He has a good one on tapering tangs.

Thank you very much for the nomination. But, the sheath is not made by me. My brother makes my sheaths. Thanks again.

2018 KD Members Choice Awards - TOP DOG

Several to choose from but I think Ed C. rises to the top. I think he lives on this forum. Seems he adds to most posts that have questions. His answers are not abbreviated. ;) His responses are thoughtful and detailed. Not sure I’ve ever read a condescending tone in any of his posts. Very...

    Bowie Work In Progress

Great WIP OP. The Bowie is looking good. Never heard of using a honing stone in the hand sanding efforts. Good tip. I may have to give that a try.

    2 hunter WIP

I don’t think so. Seems a lot of people from brand new to highly experienced visit these forums. The experienced might skim it but still find value and interest and the brand new will study your methods and learn. I don’t think it’s too much at all.
