    Week long project finished

Funny, I seem to waver between single focus and multiple focus. I think the difference for me is if the project starts taking too long it tends to get old and I add in another project. Then my better half wonders why I started another project before finishing the first. :)

    Week long project finished

Thanks John. The handle was an effort for me since it was the first time trying this contour style.

    Week long project finished

Thanks Ty. A full seven days of nothing but this knife. Much of it was on the handle. Fun build but was getting burned out focusing on one knife alone. I think I’ll have to juggle knife projects from now on so I don’t hit the wall on a single knife.

    Week long project finished

Blade is 4 3/4” with OAL of 9”. Feather Damascus ( bought from a guy on IG), ringed gidgee handle. The blade is about 3/4” shorter than original design because a mistake forced me to grind down some length.

How to reed or coin edges?

I hope you get an answer because I too have done the same research after being inspired by what I saw on other knives. I found nothing. Maybe it’s a trade secret but hope not.

    DanF's KITH WIP

Looking very nice. I think DIW makes a very nice durable handle.

    Something interesting

Good video. Thanks for bringing it up. I’ve heard of the rule of thirds for proportionality and it seems this is the same but kinda not. This video explains it in better detail.

    First Hamon

Sounds like a good theory to me. ;) This post from the OP and another post titled ‘first hamon’ are such good hamons it makes me want to not try again. Maybe I should learn a little more about metal characteristics. It may help. Actually, the title of this post had me focus on the hamon and I at...

    First Hamon

A great hamon for a first. Overall knife design is nice. I agree with Chris on the hamon being a little too close to the cutting edge. I’m no metallurgist but for some reason I know in all my hamon attempts, the actual hamon line never seems to follow the clay line. I too like the sheaths...

Not a KITH knife but same style

C-TEK is the name of the material (or maybe it’s the name of the company that makes the material). I got them from USA knifemaker. The aluminum honeycomb cells come in different sizes. I believe this size is 1/8. https://usaknifemaker.com/c-tek-honeycomb-black-125-cell.html

Not a KITH knife but same style

It’s the same as the KITH, 5.5 OAL, designed to be pocket carry. First time using the C-TEK handle material. It’s pretty light weight stuff. I like using it and was easier to work with than I suspected. Blade is 2.5” CPM154. Satin finish on handle and blade. A little file work.

    A bouncing new Baby Peter-Wright!!!

Nice! I don’t do much forging. I only have a piece of RR track for an anvil. The surface area on that anvil looks awesome.
