Thank you. If I can do it so can anyone. Patience and a willingness to learn from mistakes as opposed to quitting will go a long ways. Buy plenty of good knife making tools and you will feel like you have to get better and can’t quit. :) I’m halfway sarcastic but then again I was invested in...

Thanks! Yeah, carbon fiber is nice but you definitely have to be careful. I suppose most shop work comes with some hazards that requires proper PPE. That price seems pretty fair on a wheel and an arm.

I decided to put a finger groove into the handle. First time doing it. So, I was thinking of how I can be sure the angle of the groove is the same on both sides. I pulled out a handy tool I haven’t used in a while and glad I found it. Drum roll... the bubble jig. What a versatile tool and it...

    Using magnets to fix warp

I have some of those magnets, I’ll have to give it a go. Good tip.

Second KITH getting carbon fiber handles. Shaping is in progress. What a mess carbon makes! I’ve read many safety hazards of carbon dust and I’ve read the advice many have given to include Ed Caffery’s call out on respirators in general. One tip I learned from years in the service and donning...

Thanks. I also like low count but I’m a fan of all Damascus, especially feather Damascus.

Posting one of the sheaths I got from my brother. Not sure if this sheath will go with this knife yet but it is a pretty good match.

Very nice work and very informative. Can you share the type epoxy you put in a syringe to seal edges. I imagine it was a very thin epoxy and am not aware of an epoxy that thin.

Price is a big stumbling block to move to a larger wheel in my opinion. The arched platens ( not sure what the real name is) that provide even greater radius might be in my future. Haven’t done my homework yet on price or how well they work. But seems like they should be cheaper. Something worth...

I did post this photo on IG. There really isn’t any progress on the second blade from yesterday but I enjoy the challenge of product photography so once in a while I go for the more dramatic photo. It’s just another photo without showing any progress. Just having fun in my retirement.

Thanks. It’s 1/8” thick. I use a 12” wheel so it isn’t too deep. May be the shadow playing tricks.

Impressive! The clip alone seems like a work of art.

Thank you. The Damascus is Alabama Damascus. I’m not at a point to make my own damascus, but when I do it will be by hand and I expect it will be really, really, low count.

Just a quick WIP update. Second blade is underway. Grind complete, etch is complete, handle is next. That’s it for now.

You choose. Which one for my KITH?

Okay, I’ll go with big too. Micarta is tough and practical and many woods are beautiful ... decisions, decisions.

Thank you. Just Incase I didn’t explain very well, I only used CA to fill the voids. Although CA coated the handle, I sanded it off so only the voids were filled. The wood is stabilized so a complete CA finish wasn’t needed. Most voids were filled pretty good by the stabilization process. I...

Zito KITH WIP- 9-2-18 update pics

Great looking knife and sheath. Fingernail/fingerprint cleanup after a day in the shop is a pain. I have to admit, I started wearing those black thicker rubber gloves more often just so I was a little more presentable while handling food.
