    Choose a steel?

I know this has probably been argued ad nausea. However I am curious on your guys opinion. I want to make a full tang tomahawk. I want to use either A2 or O1. I have experience with both making small to medium knives. I dont care about stain ability, I want whichever of these two...

    Tracking down some steel?

I figure you crazies could find this or help me track it down. I am looking for a 6" x 12" piece of 5160 in either 1/4 or 5/16. Everywhere I have called or emailed can only seem to get it in 4" width pieces. I would really love it if one of you fine folk could help me find a piece or...

    Motor horsepower?

Already ordered a 2hp. Should be perfect for my small to medium knives. I rarely go above 1/8, staying mainly with 3/32 but nice to be able to push, I mean I did make 50+ knives using the 1hp so 2hp is gonna be a big upgrade. I like the idea of a vfd, but really dont mind the 3 step pulley...

    contact wheel

Thanks again for all the help. I guess what I was asking, say right now no hollow grinding, just using the wheel for stock removal cause lets face it the platen just sucks for that! Would I be losing efficiency using say a 5-6" wheel over an 8-10 or will they all take material off about the same?

Brandon's Fantastical Journey to becoming a knife maker...

Nothing against Aldo, he has awesome supplies but every piece of steel I have ordered from them has arrived wavy and warped. Real pain for a new maker. Sending my stuff out for heat treat usually fixes this, but for at home heat treat its a lot of trouble.

    contact wheel

Say I have no desire to hollow grind, or atleast dont plan to very often. I have the flat platen as well as the rotary platen. I am looking for a wheel for stock removal and saving belts. I see most recommend getting a 10 for hollow grinding, however since my goal is mainly stock removal...

    Motor horsepower?

So what do I gain from upgrading my motor from 1hp to 2hp? Same speed obviously with the rpm at 1725 correct? Logic says you increase the hp you increase the power ala motors in cars and motorcycles etc but does that mean, more torque, or the ability to grind thicker steel without bogging...

    Convex grinding.

I understand how to put a convex edge on a knife. I am really looking for help on how to put a convex grind either spine to edge, or say a high saber to edge with knives around 3/32 and 1/8 stock. I just received a rotary platen and am still in the dark on using it.

    Epoxy?

Anyone have experience with system three t-88 and west system g flex? I have used g flex and been impressed, however I like that t-88 comes in larger squeeze bottles. It also has a good reputation. Love to hear from fellow makers who have used both. Thank you for your time.
