    Sneak-Peek: The Wasteland Crow Project

So, I got the leather dyed: Hmm, if this is the back, then what am I doing with the dee-rings? Oh, you'll see :) And what's this? A strap of some sort? I wonder what that could be for? ~Noah

Light Tent + Better light = Better pictures = Better money

Nice setup! I'm actually going to need to build a little lightbox for the project I'm currently working on, so maybe I'll post up pictures in here when I do, if you don't mind the addition? ~Noah

How many days old are you?

You are 8035 days old. I did find a slight flaw in this, though--my birthday is tomorrow, but it seems to think that my birthday has already occurred, so I think it adds a day :P ~Noah

    Sneak-Peek: The Wasteland Crow Project

I cut out the front panel, back panel, and welt of the golok sheath: Then I gave it some background texturing: Then I gave the front panel the detail pitting: Ignore the various odd coloring--the leather was still damp in places when I took pictures. ~Noah

    Sneak-Peek: The Wasteland Crow Project

Oooh, look what showed up at my door today! Leatherwork will be started tonight :) This is what Storm Crow, the guy who forged the blades, had to say about them: "The blades were forged from the same piece of truck leaf spring. They were filed to a cutting edge and given multiple heat...

At what point should you start?

I think that all knifemakers should supply a sheath of some kind to carry their knives, unless they are safe queens, whether it be a simple Kydex sheath (very easy to make with minimal cost), a custom made leather sheath, or a modified factory sheath. It's up to you what route you want to go...

    Sneak-Peek: The Wasteland Crow Project

Wanna see what the primary blade does to a fallen mesquite tree? I know you do... How about batonning? Yeah, it does that... Fine work? You betcha... The blades are being shipped to me this week, and I will start making the carry system and post up teaser pics as I progress. ~Noah

What do you look for in custom knives?

Design and fit-and-finish are big, but I can overlook fit-and-finish to a degree if the blade has good geometry, good edge retention, and a certain ease of sharpness. I like my customs to be users :) ~Noah

    Sneak-Peek: The Wasteland Crow Project

Hello everyone, Not too long ago, a bladesmith by the nickname Storm Crow and I started discussing his forge-finish blades. We determined that our styles of Neo-Tribal bladesmithing and Post-Apocalyptic leatherworking seemed to compliment each other well, and from that revelation an idea was...

    rubbed too much?

You rubbed enough to compress the fibers of the leather and possibly burnish the area, so yes, it will stay a different color. I dye before molding to help minimize this effect. ~Noah

Smith and Wesson ripped off a french designer!

That is very unfortunate--it's a very unique and interesting design, and he should be recognized for developing it, regardless of patents. I know that it doesn't necessarily mean much, but I suppose we could send our thoughts to the people at S&W? In addition, maybe the worldwide patent could...

Leatherlined Kydex for an Old Skool Busse

Very nicely done, as always! I have to say that I, too, am curious about the process for this one, mainly because I would think that the temperature that the Kydex needs to be for molding would damage the leather. ~Noah

    Vista or Windows 7

Windows 7 has its problems, but those are mostly because they moved everything around and it is difficult for XP users to adjust at first (in my opinion, anyway). That said, Vista is the new Windows ME--it is a horrible chunk of code, and Microsoft is going to pretend like they never made it :P...
