Ok, Is there a way i can make a real belt grinder for almost free?

since it is a hand sander :D: i was thinking of creating a a jig to hold it so i can use it.

The belt grinder uses a four inch belt, i have been using it for polishing the knives.

I have a belt sander, could i get belts made just for metal and use those?

so a bench mounted belt grinder. And for heat treating, how much is it on average to send it somewhere to get it treated? and where can i get just enough 01 steel for one knife just to try that?
